pdbc Hana Nui

Hana Nui is a Hawaiian reference, translating in English to “Hard Work”.

For athletes ages 24 - 49 who are interested in rebuilding the PDBC Premier and Senior A programs with us; who want to be dedicated paddlers, who want to improve their skills, and who want to grow with us as a team.

This program is designed to build our competitive programs to compete at the highest level. This program is currently seeking motivated athletes (regardless of paddling experience) that are willing to grow and evolve into the best paddlers and athletes they have ever been.

  • To attract athletes who would like to go on the journey of a lifetime

Returning for 2022…

In hopes of achieving a year long commitment and continuous training from our paddlers, we have opened registration for every program available for the entire 2021/2022 season!

Paddlers can now register for all programming that they wish to take part in, all at the same time and receive discounted pricing. Paddlers will receive 5% off if they register for 3 programs, 10% off for 4 programs, and 15% off for 5 or more PDBC training programs!

*Registration must be completed by December 31, 2021 in order to receive multi- program discounts*

Membership Fee

In order to best serve our athlete base, all PDBC competitive members will be required to pay a non-refundable Membership Fee of $120.00. This fee will give athletes year-round access to administrative assistance, their Dragon Boat Canada membership, their year- end banquet ticket, as well as a variety of customized to paddlers workout programs. Membership fee is not eligible for the pricing discount.

Indoor Training:

Paddle Ergometer Training

At Alkame Paddle Zone (1050 Brock Rd, unit 21, Pickering)
First Practice: November 1, 2021
Last Practice: April 4, 2022
No practice December 29, 2021

Day & Time:Mondays, 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Cost: Local Fee $460.00 Distance: $325.00
*Distance pricing is only for members who live outside of the GTA and cannot attend more than 60% of practices.

Alkame Paddle Zone - Membership

The Paddle Zone membership allows athletes access to all gym facilities and equipment for a 6-month period.

Dates: November 1, 2021 – April 30, 2022

Cost: $330.00 (Register in October and receive that month for FREE!)
(Does not include the cost of group training or personal training).
*Members are welcome to train at Paddle Zone 24hrs/day, 7 days a week, except for during Team Training Sessions.

Pool Paddling

At Afterburn Fitness (230 Nantucket Ave, Scarborough)
First practice: January 23, 2022
Last practice: April 10, 2022

Day & Time: Sundays, 3 - 5 pm

Cost: Local Fee $250.00, Distance Fee $175.00

Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Thursdays 6:30 – 8:30 pm

No practice: July 17 - 26 due to CCWC, August 18 - 21 due to CDBC

OC Rentals & Coaching

12-week OC training program designed specifically for Hana Nui athletes. 10:1 athlete to coach ratio.

OC Coaching Practice Schedule: May 4, 2022 - June 22, 2022 and August 3, 2022 - August 31, 2022
*No coached sessions in July, No practice August 17, 2022

Day & Time: Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30pm

Cost: Full Program (OC Rental & Coaching) $450.00, OC Rental Only (no coached sessions) $275.00, Coaching Only (OC Owners) $200.00

OC Rentals: Begin in late April and continue until early October ( weather permitting)

Additional Training:

Zoom Workouts:

Athletes can choose to participate in a weekly training program offered through Zoom. This will be led by a certified CanFitPro instructor. It will be tailored to the needs of dragon boat athletes. A minimum of 10 people is required for this program. Zoom Workouts are not eligible for the pricing discount.
